1st Visit
During your first visit in our office, you will meet with one of our doctors who will talk with you one on one about your health history and present complaints to gain a better understanding of your condition and the complexity of your case. If we accept your case, a physical examination will be performed which may include x-rays, neurological, or orthopedic examination, and other diagnostic procedures such as computerized posture analysis. In addition, a careful chiropractic spinal examination and analysis will be performed to look for vertebral subluxations.
Subluxations occur when one or more of the bones of your spine (vertebrae) move out of position and create pressure on, or irritate spinal nerves, ultimately causing pain and dysfunction to whatever those nerves supply. Subluxations can be caused from auto accidents, falls, birth trauma, poor posture, sports injuries, poor sleeping habits, and computer work. Chiropractors are specially trained to locate and correct subluxations.
If it is determined based upon the information gathered in your initial consultation, examination, and x-rays that your problems are related to subluxations of your spine, then we will begin care by performing ‘spinal adjustments’ to the areas of your spine where a subluxation has been detected. Adjustments do not hurt and are extremely safe. The ‘spinal adjustments’ are intended to take pressure off spinal nerves by gently retraining the spinal bones to move back to their normal position. When subluxations are corrected, the body can return back to its normal homeostasis which means better body function and relief from your symptoms.
Before you leave our office you will be scheduled the Report of Findings. I am sure that you have all been to a doctor that never took the time to explain things to you. At Lake Mary Chiropractic Center, we have designed the Report of Findings for the sole purpose of explaining what we do and how we do it. We provide you with information on how to help get you out of pain, and more important how to keep you well for the rest of your life. We also use this time to show you normal vs. abnormal spinal structure, different choices of care, and the treatment protocol we will utilize in our office. This visit will begin in a group setting, but will end in a private one-on-one consultation where we will go over your x-ray and exam findings and you will have the opportunity to ask the doctors any further questions regarding your case.
In preparation for your first visit, we have provided online versions of our forms that you can print and fill out prior to your arrival. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call us! To download our forms prior to your 1st visit, please click here
